If you're in the market for a new
Lexus, it'll have to come with four or five doors, unless you've got the $375,000 to shell out on the
LFA or want to drop the entire roof with the
IS Convertible. But that could all change with the arrival of the new
GS line.
The new-for-2013 sedan - previewed by the
LF-Gh concept in New York and recently
spied undergoing testing at the Nürburgring - is
expected to bow at Pebble Beach in just a few weeks. But while that vehicle, like the
IS,
ES and
LS, is expected to be a proper four-door sedan, rumor has it that a coupe version could be in the works as well.
If it comes to fruition, the GS coupe could pick up where the smaller,
discontinued SC left off and go up against the likes of the
Audi A5,
Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe and
BMW 6 Series, but Inside Line advises it likely wouldn't arrive until the spring of 2013 at the earliest.
A convertible version could be in the cards as well, though Lexus would be just as likely to avoid stepping on the IS C's toes. Of course, this could all come to naught, or Lexus could opt to go an entirely
different route for its next two-door model.
